What Tailored.ie is
Tailored.ie is a small editorial site that catalogues Irish bespoke and made-to-measure tailors, writes plain-English buyer's guides, and matches readers with the tailor who actually fits their brief. It is a guide, not a tailor, not a shop, and not a booking agency.
We started in early 2026 because commissioning a bespoke suit in Ireland is unnecessarily opaque. Prices aren't published. House style isn't described. The vocabulary is specialised. And there is no single place where someone can compare a €1,800 Dublin cutter to a €2,800 Galway one and understand what the €1,000 actually buys. This site is our attempt at that single place.
Who we are
Tailored.ie is written and maintained by a small Irish editorial team with a deep interest in clothing, craft and good writing. Between us we have commissioned suits from four of the houses in our directory. We are not tailors. We are not sons, daughters, spouses or employees of any tailor in the directory.
How we make money
Two sources, both disclosed plainly:
- Partner referrals. When a reader requests matched quotes through our form, we pass the brief to two or three tailors whose price band and speciality fit. If the reader commissions a suit, the tailor pays us a flat referral fee — a fixed euro amount, the same from every tailor, never a percentage of the commission. The fee is identical whether the reader commissions a €600 MTM or a €4,500 full-bespoke suit. This means we have no financial reason to push any reader upmarket.
- Affiliate links on specific accessory guides. A small handful of articles link out to shoe, shirt, tie and accessory retailers. Where we link, we say so on the page. Where we are paid a referral, we say so on the page. We never link affiliate to a tailor in our directory.
Editorial independence
Listings are free. A tailor cannot pay to appear, cannot pay to appear higher in the directory, and cannot pay to remove a comment we've made. The flat referral fee model means every tailor in the directory pays us the same when a quote converts — there is no incentive for us to prefer one over another.
We write what we think is true. If a tailor's house style isn't for you, we say so. If a tailor is better for wedding work than for everyday, we say so. If a tailor quietly cuts poor trousers, we don't list them at all.
How we list tailors
A tailor is eligible for the directory if they operate a premises or a regular travelling fitting service in Ireland, accept new commissions, and are currently trading. We do not list ghost businesses, closed workrooms, or remote-only operations with no Irish presence. We verify listings every six months and remove or update entries within 30 days of a closure, move, or change of ownership.
Every listing is written by us after at least one in-person or phone conversation with the house, a review of their finished work, and a check of their price band against at least two recent client orders. We take no input from the tailor on the listing copy — we'll correct factual errors on request but we don't negotiate descriptions.
How we write guides
Guides are written in plain English, without jargon where plain words will do, and with our opinions clearly flagged as opinions. We update guides when the market shifts: new tailors, new cloth ranges, changing price bands. Every guide has a "Last updated" date at the top — if it's more than 12 months old, treat it as reference, not live fact.
What we don't do
- Publish sponsored content that looks like editorial. If something is paid, it's labelled "Partner" at the top of the page.
- Take a commission from the tailors (we take a flat referral fee; it's not a sales commission).
- Charge readers a booking fee.
- Pass reader data to advertisers.
- Keep contact-form submissions longer than 24 months.
- Publish reviews of tailors we haven't independently verified.
Corrections
If something on Tailored.ie is wrong — a price, a location, a detail about a tailor's house style — email hello@tailored.ie with the correction. We fix within three working days and add a dated note at the bottom of any page where the correction materially changes what we said.
Comments and tips
We don't have comments on the site. If you've commissioned a suit from someone in the directory and want to tell us how it went — good or bad — drop us a line. We won't quote you without permission, but your experience helps us keep the listings honest.
